What is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC)?
As your needs change over time, a continuing care retirement community gives you the confidence of knowing long-term care is available on site at predictable costs. We offer a range of levels of living for financial security and peace of mind.
CloseWhat levels of living are provided at Covenant Living at Windsor Park?
Senior living at Covenant Living at Windsor Park means living independently while having on-site access to a comprehensive menu of health care services and long-term care. We meet the needs of our residents by providing the following levels of living:
- Independent Living Apartments and Duplex Homes
- Assisted Living
- Assisted Living Memory Support
- Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation
- Long-Term
- Care Covenant Care at Home
- Hospice Care
Who qualifies for independent living?
Those who are aged 62 and above are welcome to apply for occupancy in our Independent Living apartments or duplex homes.
CloseWhat are the Guidelines for Assisted Living?
Residents must be at least 62 years of age and need assistance with at least two activities of daily living and have a physician’s order.
CloseWhat are the Guidelines for Skilled Nursing?
The resident must need 24-hour skilled nursing care and have a doctor’s order.
CloseWho determines the proper transition plan should a resident need to move to another level in the Continuum of Care?
The Executive Director drives the process in partnership with the resident(s), their family and physician to make the best possible informed decision to ensure a successful transition for resident(s).
CloseWho is primarily responsible for health care and medical services in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing?
The Health Care Administrator is responsible for medical decisions.
CloseHow does my Primary Care Physician fit into my health care program at Windsor Park?
It is up to individual physicians to decide whether they will continue to treat patients who become health care residents of Covenant Living at Windsor Park.
CloseWhat happens when an Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing resident requires hospitalization?
If it’s not an emergency, the doctor writes the order for the resident to be sent to the hospital and the family is notified. In an emergency situation, the resident is immediately sent to Central DuPage Hospital, and then the doctor and family are notified.
CloseAre there any Social Service offerings or programming at Covenant Living at Windsor Park?
Yes, social services are provided in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing to assist with transitions.
CloseHow does medical insurance coverage work?
We accept the following types of medical insurance:
- Medicare and private health Insurance, and long-term care insurance in our Skilled Nursing residence
- Private health insurance or long-term care insurance (Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, etc.) Pre-authorization and pre-approval are needed first.
- Medicare, for those who meet Medicare guidelines. Medicare Part A helps pay for care in a hospital, a skilled nursing facility, home health and hospice care. Medicare Part B helps pay for doctor bills, outpatient hospital care, equipment, supplies, and various medical services. Medicare Part D helps pay for prescription drug

CloseWho can help me through this process?
Our Referral Liaison will assist you in the process by visiting you in the hospital or at home to explain your insurance benefits and to ensure a smooth transition to our Skilled Nursing residence.
CloseWhat is included in Skilled Nursing or Rehabilitation?
We offer: 24-hour nursing care Social services Pastoral care Activities Meals and snacks Dietitian services Physical, occupational and speech therapy, among other services.
CloseWhat if I am unable or not ready to move in immediately?
We can put you on a waiting list and you can let us know when you are ready. We will also gladly work with you to provide you with resources and information to help in the process.
CloseHow quickly am I able to move into my new apartment in Skilled Nursing or Rehabilitation?
Once we receive your medical information and your insurance is approved, you can proceed with the moving process.
Keep in mind, you do not have to be a current resident of our retirement community to benefit from our Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing or short-term Rehabilitation services, nor will you have to pay an entrance fee to enter one of the areas noted above. In our short-term Rehabilitation program, we accept Medicare and are in-network providers for a number of managed care and Medicare Advantage programs.
